| So This is a Business Entry. Kind of. I have much things going on. First of all, I am putting together a solo show (my thesis/ graduation show) to be held at my school, Calarts, on Nov. 30th. Well, it will be up all week from Nov. 26th ish to Dec. 2nd, but there will be a awesomely cool reception on the 30th. There will probably be an early reception from 6-8pm, and a late one for all crazy people at 10 pm. I haven't actually figured out the times, but i'll post them later. Anyway, not only do i have to put together a show (which is in itself a terrifying experience!) but this month i am writing.. a novel. I am doing nanowrimo- have you heard of it? visit the site- http://www.nanowrimo.org you too can sign up to write a book in one month- you have to write 1,667 words a day. i'm up to 7,000. it takes a long time, and is stressful. crazy. i might have the finished product at my show, which will include the writings videos i've been doing a 9 foot rubber raft (papier mache'd) paintings photos? drawings maps i've been making other cool things anchor motif jewlery
nautical themes are sooo in.. lalala that's all for now. i am busy! and trying not to crack in the pressurized cooker love, akina say a prayer for me- i do not want carpal tunnel syndrome
| attention, attention:
in 1904, there were 7,800 varieties of apples grown in the United States. currently, the number is less than 200. most grocery stores carry 4 kinds.
what kinds do you think those are? red delicious, yellow delicious, gala, fuji? what about granny smith?
huh.
anyway, there definitely needs to be an apple revolution. maybe we could get the ipodre company to donate money. EAT MORE APPLES! BUY AN APPLE CORER, IF IT MAKES YOU EAT MORE! (studies show that children eat 5x more apples, if they're sliced)
let's summon the spirits of john lennon and george harrison.
i have a new purpose in life.
join me, and overthrow this capitalist conspiracy to limit the consumption of our apples! down with the man!
i'm going to travel the country and eat one of every variety of apple if it kills me!
DOWN WITH THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
| so i'm at yale.
i like to say yay-le. its fun.
so it's an interesting place. very many important people. including charlie white, a photographer who did a project about aliens invading LA which was pretty hilrarious. he teaches at usc, and i think he wants me to go there for grad school. they pay their grad students (no tuition!) so that would be cool.
they're really into painting here. i was given a weird studio, so i found an empty room in the basement of one of the buildings, and i've been making it into an installation about a student from the seventies who was locked in for several weeks because he wouldn't get enough work done. i'll have pictures later.
i've been here over a month, and i'm almost done! yay! i get to see andrew next weekend.
oh, by the way, yale has special belgian waffles, complete with a "Y" imprint. its hecka awesome.
like my random pippi outfit

| sooooooo
i got in to yale's summer program. i found out on wednesday, and i was so happy i was bouncing off the walls for about two days... but today it's rainy and i've been worried. now my whole summer's eaten up. yale will be may 21st (i get out of school on the 19th) to july 3rd. then one heart is the 13th through the 31st. add to that, an arts fest (hopefully) somewhere in there, and i only get a real break in august. hopefully. ahhhhhh but why am i complaining? i got in to FREAKING YALE. YALE YALE YALE. i've wanted to go there FOREVER. only a handful of people get in, all expenses paid for six weeks, except for a $700 fee which calarts will cover. and they might also cover my airfare. i REALLY MISS the east coast. i'll be in norfolk, conneticut for six weeks. i'll be earning 12 credits. i don't think i can really visit anyone while i'm there, but if people want to come up to visit me, that should be alright. i'm going to be in the northwest corner of conneticut. 45 miles from uts, i think. i can't believe i'm so worried today. but i think i also have a cold, and i always get so fretful when i'm sick.
in other news, the squirrels are doing well. they're getting fat, and big, and their tails are fluffy. they're growing up! they don't really like to be held anymore, but that's okay. we'll probably start releasing them in two weeks (sigh...) so i'm nervous, but still really happy. oh yeah, and my review board approved my request to (finally) graduate in december. yess............

i'm going to study at yale lalalalala... grad programs are so tough to get into, this should make it easier.
listening to: ballad of the broken seas, by isobel campbell (of belle and sebastian) and mark lanegan (of the screaming trees) best track: come walk with me return to the sea, by islands (don't call me whitney, bobby is the BEST)
watching: the OC. i'll admit it. i'm addicted. it makes doing laundry more enjoyable.
i didn't mean to complain so much earlier. i'm really happy. i miss the east coast, and all you people out there. especially anyone named liz or laurel or any bonini or sayre or anyone related to them, which is pretty much the comptons and the nakais, right? and anyone who has been a member or been affiliated with mr. sparkle. and any hoover or derflinger. good times ahead love, akina
| squirrels are hecka cute...
squirrel + andrew = cutest ever

i'm their mommy

why does brian look sad?

one more close up.
basically, brian found these squirrels in our front yard friday afternoon. there were four, without their mommy, and we left them alone for a long time, hoping that their mom would come back. she didn't, so i've been taking care of them. they need feedings all the time, and they can't even pee by themselves. its a good thing i have spring break this week. one died, lefty. he wasn't eating anything. the others (two boys, one girl) are gobbly guts and suck down the formula really well.
akina listening to: sigur ros, takk...
don't worry, in a few weeks they should be old enough to let go, i've been researching this.
